Malaga City on Costa del Sol

No visitor to Malaga City on Costa del Sol will ever be disappointed because it is a vacationer's dream. Perhaps exploring the history is the best part, but all kinds of other things to do are present all along the Costa del Sol. Malaga has beautiful museums, jumping nightlife, wonderful places to shop, and very good choices of accommodations. The busy Malaga Airport is only 8 kilometers from the center from the city, so ground transportation by bus or car is easy to be had. The Malaga airport offers service to all the cities along the Costal del Sol, so it is always very busy.

A Bit of History With Your Malaga City Overview
Melaga, at one time a Moorish city and a trade hub in the Iberian Peninsula, has evidence in its architecture of the Moors, the Phoenicians, the Greeks and the Romans, all of whom occupied the place at one time or another. Fortresses still stand to attest to its history, particularly ones erected by Ferdinand and Isabella after they conquered the invaders.

Must-See Sights
Churches and Cathedrals are the major historical and architectural places to visit in Malaga, which is not unlike most European cities. One of the cathedrals built between 1528 and 1782 was placed on the previous site of a mosque. Because the job was under-funded, the cathedral was never finished, so it has only one tower rather than the two originally planned. Another important site is the Astillo de Gibralfaro Fortress. In the early twelfth century it was used a lighthouse, but it is better known as the location of Ferdinand and Isabella's three-month month siege. Two other attractions are found in Malaga as well. One is the Alcazba, the place where the first Catholic mass was given after the Christians' siege. The other more recent event is that it is where Pablo Picasso was born.

Shopping
Malaga offers shopping in various price ranges. From the side alley sales stalls to the Plaza de la Constitutcion, where you can get bargains, to the Calle Marquese de Larios, the main street in Malaga. There you had better bring lots of money!
Nightlife
Bars with live music fill the city, and many of these have jazz or Flamenco dancing, and you can even find an Irish Pub! If you like musical theatre, you can just make reservations for the Miguel Cervantes Municipal Theatre which offers many popular productions.

However, no thumbnail sketch can ever tell you of all the things there are to do and see in Malaga, Spain. From the beaches to the historical attractions, you and your family will love every minute of it.
